To hear a printed page read aloud, open Readwalk, tap +, and scan the page with your iPhone camera. Readwalk recognizes the text on the page and reads it aloud in a natural voice with each word highlighted.
When it helps
- Printed books you'd like to listen to on a walk, a chapter at a time.
- School handouts and worksheets, especially for readers who find print tiring.
- Letters and forms in small print.
- Pages you photographed earlier. Save the photo to Files, then tap + › Open a File.
How to scan
- Tap + in Readwalk and choose Scan Pages.
- Hold the page flat in good light. Scan as many pages as you like in one go.
- Tap Save, then play. Pages are read in order.

Tips for a clean read
- Daylight beats lamplight. Avoid shadows across the text.
- Scan one page at a time from a book, flattening the spine.
- If a page has two columns, crop to one column at a time for the most natural reading order.
